I love the thought in all of this, and that it all aligns biblically. I am definitely more focused on Trauma and healing the heart. I accept addiction is sin, I just always look past sin to try and see if there is trauma before I address a sin issue. I love that I am able to learn about addiction from this perspective as well.

I have been through three in patient rehabs until coming to the Damascus House. A.A and 12 steps for four years. It was so clear and amazingly put that a 'higher power' to the addicts liking does not work because it can be whatever they want, fired at anytime, etc... thus making themselves the higher power, thus starting from square one with themselves being the problem in the first place. There is only one true higher power who cannot be fired and that is God. Trying to get the addict to understand and believe this is the goal!

I enjoyed the course and appreciate the insights given. One of the best things I learned is that it's not recovery that we should be concerned with but a "transformation." Makes perfect sense and I plan on using that more and more. They need to be transformed and nor recover to where they were at previously. Looking forward to completing the CABC program and moving on to see what God's will for me is after that. Thank you and God Bless.
